Dr. Douglas Husbands DC IFMCP is an IFM Certified Functional Medicine Practitioner, Doctor of Chiropractic and Certified Clinical Nutritionist. He has been helping people resolve chronic health conditions for over 27 years. He specializes in digestive disorders, autoimmune disorders, and mold illness. He is also an expert in Cox Technic, a very effective non-surgical treatment option for various neck and back pain conditions, such as herniated disc and sciatica.
Dr. Husbands has been using the Functional Medicine approach since 2003. Thus, he is the most experienced among the over 50 Functional Medicine practitioners in the San Francisco Bay Area.
He got a Bachelor’s degree in Biology/Human Physiology from San Francisco State University in 1983. He graduated from Cleveland Chiropractic College and became a Doctor of Chiropractic in 1991.
In 1996, he earned his post-graduate board certification as a Certified Clinical Nutritionist with the International and American Associations of Clinical Nutritionists, and in 2000, he became a certified Anti-Aging Health Care Practitioner with the American Board of Anti-Aging Health Practitioners. In 2003, he became a Functional Medicine practitioner after completing training at the Institute for Functional Medicine.
He worked in Sports Medicine as a physical therapy aide and had a personal exercise training business in the 1980’s.
Dr. Husbands has provided expert opinion to national health magazines. He has taught classes and given presentations to a wide variety of audiences on natural health topics and functional medicine. He leads the Functional Forum Meetup, which is held in Foster City several times a year.
His chiropractic/functional medicine clinic is located at 1100 Laurel St, Ste B, San Carlos, CA. He offers phone and video consultations for existing patients and those outside of the San Francisco bay area.
